Shafer name Sun Belt Conference Player of the Week

lorida International senior guard Mandy Shafer has been named the Sun Belt Conference Player of the Week as announced by the conference office today. It is the first time in her career that she has earned the honor.

Shafer earned Sun & Fun Classic MVP honors after she poured in 30 points and grabbed four rebounds to help FIU defeat Ole Miss, 76-68, in the title game of the tournament. In the opening round against Texas A&M-Corpus Christi, she had 15 points, five boards and three assists.

Shafer and the Golden Panthers host Siena on Jan. 1 at 2:00 p.m. before opening conference play at North Texas on Saturday.
