Russo, Women's Basketball
sign three in early period
lorida International women's basketball
head coach Cindy Russo has announced the signings of Laquetta
Ferguson, Alexa Kane and Asha Neal to National Letters of Intent
for the 2003-04 academic year.
Ferguson, a 5-7 shooting guard out of South Broward [Fla.] High
School, averaged 16.7 points, 6.9 rebounds, 3.3 assists and 1.9
steals per contest as a junior. The Hollywood, Fla., native is
expected to be a threat from three-point range and to penetrate
defenses with her quick, slashing style.
The 5-8 Kane is another shooting
guard. A senior at Longwood, Fla., who attends Lake Mary High
School, she is a physical guard who likes to drive to the basket.
Neal is a 5-10 small forward
who averaged 16 points and 10 points per game her junior campaign
at Pine Ridge High School in Deltona, Fla. She is a three-year
letterwinner who has picked up first team all-county honors all
three seasons.
