Women's Basketball ranked one of Top 50 teams in the nation

he Florida International women's basketball squad has been named one of the Top 50 teams in the nation by WOMENSCOLLEGEHOOPS.com.

The article, written by Ed Clark and the website's staff, ranks FIU 47th in the poll. Clark cites the team's strong history and challenging schedule as basis for the ranking. FIU is slated to play the poll's No. 1 team, Duke, in Durham, N.C. on Dec. 18, and could face No. 4 LSU in the FIU Thanksgiving Classic Nov. 29-30.

The Golden Panthers are coming off a 27-6 record in 2001-02 that saw them advance to the second round of the NCAA Tournament. FIU opens the 2002-03 campaign at the Seminole Classic, Nov. 22-23, in Tallahassee, Fla.
