Golden Panthers to face
Florida State in WNIT First Round

Florida International women's basketball team will compete in
postseason play for the 15th time in program history as the Golden
Panthers take on Florida State in the first round of the Women's
National Invitation Tournament on Thursday at 7:00 p.m. at the
Tallahassee-Leon County Civic Center. Fans can contact the FSU
Ticket Office (888-FSU-NOLE) or the FIU Ticket Office (866-FIU-GAME)
for ticket information.
FIU enters the tournament with a 19-10 record while FSU is
16-12. The Golden Panthers lost in the quarterfinals of the Sun
Belt Conference Tournament while the Lady Seminoles fell in the
quarters of the Atlantic Coast Conference Tournament. This will
be the 10th meeting between the two programs. FSU leads the all-time
series with a 7-2 record while the Golden Panthers are 2-1 against
the Lady 'Noles in Tallahassee.
The WNIT involves 32 teams in a single-elimination format.
All games, including the semifinals and championship, will be
hosted by participating schools at their home facility. FIU has
competed in three WNIT's and has posted a 3-4 record. |
