Shafer selected to 2003
Verizon Academic All-District 3 First Team

International senior Mandy Shafer has been named to the 2003
Verizon Academic All-District 3 First Team as voted by the College
Sports Information Directors of America.
Shafer, a 6-0 shooting guard, has started all 23 games for
the Golden Panthers (16-7, 7-3 Sun Belt Conference) and leads
the team with 15.3 points per game. In addition, she has added
5.9 rebounds, 1.6 steals, 1.4 assists and 0.9 blocks per contest
this season. She ranks 16th among FIU's all-time scoring leaders
with 922 points, is sixth with 70 career blocked shots and second
with 136 career three-pointers.
The Eustis, Fla., native currently boasts a 3.55 grade point
average in sports management and will earn her bachelor's degree
in sports management in April of 2003. She is one of six student-athletes
selected to the squad and will represent District 3 on the 2003
Verizon Academic All-America ballot. |
