Vrancheva ties career-high
with 20 points as FIU edges Middle Tennessee

Vrancheva tied a career-high with 20 points as Florida International
escaped Golden Panther Arena with a 65-63 victory over Middle
Tennessee on Saturday afternoon. With the win, FIU (15-6, 6-2)
moves into a first-place tie with Western Kentucky in the Sun
Belt Conference's East Division.
Vrancheva scored FIU's final five points, including a three-point
play with one minute remaining, to secure the win.
Middle Tennessee (11-10, 4-4) led by 12 points with 16:44
remaining, but the Golden Panthers used a 19-2 run over the next
six minutes to take a seven-point advantage. The Lady Raiders
did not back down, coming back to take a three-point lead with
7:29 left in the game before Vrancheva took over, scoring nine
of FIU's final 17 points.
Anita Heller had 13 points for FIU while Mandy Shafer added
10. MT's Patrice Holmes posted her fifth career double-double
with 13 points and 12 rebounds.
The Golden Panthers are off until Feb. 13 when they host South
Alabama at 7:00 p.m. in Golden Panther Arena. |
