FIU gets big win over Miami, 3-2

IU gives Miami its second loss of the season, 3-2 (30-26, 31-29, 27-30, 21-30, 18-16) in Coral Gables, FL. Adriana Fundora recorded a season-high 26 kills and 20 digs. It was Fundora's second consecutive game above 20 kills, while adding four service aces.

FIU (6-14) started strong winning the first two games, before letting Miami (17-2) tie the match. Neither team had more than a two-point lead in the deciding fifth game, as the Golden Panthers used a kill by Oksana Zablueva and an error by Miami's Elizabeth Tyson to win the match.

The match was the second of the year for the two squads, as FIU avenged its previous loss to Miami on September 14.

Zablueva finished with her first career double-double, with 18 kills and 10 digs. Jennifer Owens had 16 kills, her third match in double-digits.

FIU will get back to Sun Belt Conference action, playing North Texas on Friday in Denton, TX.
