FIU loses second in as many days, 3-1, to Arkansas-Little Rock

he Golden Panthers lost their second match in as many days, 3-1 (27-30, 30-24, 30-19, 30-19), at Arkansas-Little Rock.

Florida International (4-11, 0-2) took advantage of Trojan miscues to win the first game. UALR was penalized three times for serving out of rotation, at one point turning a 25-24 Trojan lead into a 26-23 lead that the Golden Panthers would not lose. Adriana Fundora closed out the game with the final two FIU points on kills.

The second game started slow for the Trojans (5-6, 1-0), falling behind 4-1 to start the game. UALR took the lead at 18-17 and opened up the largest lead of the game on a Rachel Plants kill to win the game 30-24.

UALR came out on fire in game three, opening the game on an 8-1 run. Five of the points during the run came on Golden Panther attacking errors. FIU battled back to close the gap to 12-7, but would not get any closer in the 30-19 Trojan win.

UALR never trailed in the final game, jumping out to an early 14-7 lead and cruised the rest of the way. Larisa Durmesivic put the final touches on the match, ending the deciding game with a kill and an ace to make the score 30-19.

The Golden Panthers went 0-2 in their Arkansas road trip, losing to Arkansas State 3-1 Friday night. FIU was led by Jennifer Owens with 13 kills and Fundora with 11 kills. Debra Amundson added a match-high 10 digs.

UALR wins their fifth consecutive conference home opener with tonight's victory.
