Dubovik goes 6-for-7 as FIU splits with Middle Tennessee

icole Dubovik batted 6-for-7 and Nicole Barrett picked up her NCAA-leading 11th save as FIU split a Sun Belt Conference doubleheader with Middle Tennessee (0-7, 2-1) on Saturday in Murfreesboro. FIU is now 33-23, 9-3 on the year while the Lady Raiders are 32-17, 8-6.

In game one, FIU racked up nine hits on MT starter Stayc Preator (22-6), but the Golden Panthers could not get runners home and stranded nine in the 2-0 loss. Dubovik went 4-for-4 while Preator picked up her eighth shut out and extended her consecutive-scoreless innings streak to 59.1. FIU starter Kendra Laminack (11-10) suffered the loss despite only allowing three hits in 4.2 innings.

In game two, the Golden Panthers took advantage of four Lady Raider errors and Marleah Stapf hit her seventh home run of the season as the Golden Panthers downed MT, 7-1.

FIU starter Amanda Nealer (19-7) fanned four while Barrett did not allow a hit in the final three innings to preserve the victory. MT reliever Tiffany Chidress (4-3) took the loss after allowing four unearned runs 3.1 innings.

The two teams close out the regular season on Sunday with a doubleheader slated to begin at 2:00 p.m. EST.
