Nealer named SBC Pitcher of the Week for second time this season

ophomore southpaw Amanda Nealer has been named the Sun Belt Conference Pitcher of the Week for her performance during the week of April 21 as announced by the league office today.

Nealer pitched a three-hit shut out against Western Kentucky on Sunday in which she fanned six batters and walked two. The Everett, Wash., native boasts an 18-7 record this season and has posted a 1.45 earned run average in league play.

This is the fourth time in her career that Nealer has earned this honor and the most times a Golden Panther softball player has earned the weekly award. She garnered the accolade twice as a freshman and once more on April 7 of this year.

FIU is 32-22 and has won 17 of its last 20 contests. The Golden Panthers face Middle Tennessee in a four-game series this weekend in Murfreesboro, Tenn.
