Owens named SBC Hitter of the Week

lorida International third baseman Jennifer Owens was named the Sun Belt Conference's Hitter of the Week for the week of April 14 as announced by the league office today.

A junior from Miami, Owens batted .615 (8-for-13) with a double and three RBI to help FIU split a SBC series with 20th-ranked Louisiana-Lafayette.

It was the third Hitter of the Week award for Owens, who garnered the honor once as a freshman and again on March 18 of this year.

FIU completes its home schedule against Western Kentucky this Saturday and Sunday. Doubleheaders beginning at 1:00 p.m. are scheduled for both days.
