FAU defeats FIU 1-0

IU Softball loses 1-0 to No. 10 Florida Atlantic in Boca Raton, FL. Vanessa Preston and Kendra Laminack (8-7) both combined to allow only two hits, but the Owls (52-8) were able to take advantage of three walks and a wild pitch to score the lone run.

FAU's Heather Wright scored the game's only run off a sacrifice bunt by Callie Piper in the bottom of the fifth inning. Wright got on base with a walk, then advanced to second on another walk. She went on to third on a wild pitch by Laminack, followed by Piper's bunt.

The Golden Panthers (35-26) had only three hits off of Nicole Myers (30-4), who won her 30th game of the year. Jennifer Owens, Nicole Dubovik and Kristen Perry got on with singles, but couldn't cross the plate.

FIU will now return to Sun Belt Conference action and travel to No. 19 Louisiana-Lafayette for a four-game series with the Ragin Cajuns over the weekend.
