FAU Homers Past FIU

IU falls to No. 11 Florida Atlantic on Wednesday night, 4-1, at University Park. FAU's Nicole Myers pitched a complete game for the Owls (40-7), striking out six.

The Golden Panthers (28-23) lone run was the first of the game. It came in the second inning, as Crystal Boyer hit a sacrifice fly to score Kristin Perry.

Myers beat FIU not only pitching, but at the plate, as well. The senior broke up a no-hitter off of Kendra Laminack to hit the first of three Owl home runs in the fourth inning.

Leah Barnes (4-6) replaced Laminack in the sixth inning and was greeted with a home run by Ginny Matthews.

Laminack replaced Barnes but fared no better as Pam Mazarella hit the third homer of the night. Vanessa Preston pitched the final inning of the game. Laminack finished striking out seven on the night.

FIU will now get ready for Sun Belt Conference play hosting Middle Tennessee on Saturday for a double header at 1pm.
