Softball gets two
wins over Wichita State
n
a cold night in Miami, the FIU Softball team picks up two victories
over Wichita State, 1-0 and 5-3.
In the first game, FIU (16-13) pitcher Vanessa Preston
pitched a complete game shutout for her fourth victory of the
season. Preston struck out four, with only one walk.
The lone FIU run came off pinch hitter Laura Hanstein's
bat, driving in Meagan Dontrich. That would be all
Preston needed for the win.
The second game saw FIU overcome five errors and a three-run
deficit to earn the win. Down 3-0 in the bottom of the third,
the Golden Panthers scored three runs to tie the game.
The comeback was complete after runs in the fifth and sixth
innings on a Jennifer Owens single and Kelly Nicosia
double.
Kendra Laminack pitched a complete game, allowing no
earned runs to run her record to 5-3.
FIU will next play in the USF Speedline Invitational in Tampa,
FL. |
