Softball defeats
No. 14 Iowa on the last day of the FAU Parent's Weekend Tournament

Perry singled in the lone run as FIU beat Iowa, 1-0, on the
last day of the FAU Parent's Weekend in Boca Raton.
Leah Barnes, Amanda Nealer and Kendra Laminack
all combined for a five-hit shutout of the Hawkeyes. Nealer (9-4)
earned the win, while Laminack pitched the final inning for the
save.
The Golden Panthers (28-21) had only three hits, but one off
the bat of Perry, scoring Megan Dontrich from third base
with two outs.
Iowa only reached third base once, in the seventh inning.
The Hawkeyes had runners on second and third base with one out,
but Laminack got the final two batters to pop up to second and
ground out to second.
FIU will this week off, before hosting Florida Atlantic next
Tuesday, then beginning Sun Belt Conference play against Middle
Tennessee on April 6-7. |
