Softball earns
two victories in the Golden Panther Invitational
IU
takes two at the Golden Panther Invitational. The Golden Panthers
defeated Connecticut, 3-1, and Wichita State, 2-0, at University
Park.
In the first game, the Golden Panthers tallied a run in the
bottom of the first off two hits and one Connecticut error. After
UConn tied the game, FIU came back with two runs in the bottom
of the fifth for the win. Vanessa Preston pitched a complete
game for the win.
In the nightcap, FIU's Kendra Laminack pitched a three-hit
shutout for her fourth win of the season. Kristen Perry
had two hits and an RBI.
FIU runs its record to 14-12 on the season and will play Auburn
at 1:00 p.m. tomorrow in the 3 vs. 4 seed matchup. The championship
game will be held at 11:00 a.m. pitting Oklahoma vs. Florida
Atlantic. |
