Owens named Sun Belt Conference Hitter of the Week

lorida International third baseman Jennifer Owens was named the Sun Belt Conference's Hitter of the Week for the week of March 10 as announced by the league office today.

Owens batted .538 (7-for-13) en route to FIU/Nike Blue & Gold Classic All-Tournament team honors. The Miami-native went 5-for-7 (.714) with a run scored and a RBI to lead FIU to wins over No. 20 Texas A&M and No. 24 Massachusetts and a second-place finish in the tournament.

It was the second such award for Owens, who also picked up Hitter of the Week accolades as a freshman.

FIU travels to Orlando for the Rebel Games this Friday through Sunday.
