Coach Gwydir announces new assistant coach

ead Coach Kim Gwydir announced the hiring of assistant coach Sara Headley. Headley comes from Robert Morris College, where she earned a degree in sports management, and played four years of softball.

Headley was a Northeast region All-American and was named All-Northeast Conference her sophomore and junior years. She was the starting catcher on the 1998 conference championship team.

"Sara will be extremely helpful with the catchers," Gwydir said. "She will help run the tournaments and take over the first base coaching spot."

Headley, a native of Warrenton, Virginia, was named female athlete of the year at Walter Pettus High School. The 24-year old was awarded with All-Virginia honors her senior year, including being named to the all-region and all-district teams.

She was an assistant coach the past two years at Augusta State University in Georgia, where she received a master's degree in business administration.
