Five Golden Panthers qualify
for the NCAA Regional
ive
different Golden Panther individuals and two relay teams qualified
for the NCAA Regional in late May at the Hurricane Invitational
this past weekend.
On the women's track side, three different FIU runners qualified.
Anita Edwards ran a 23.88 in the 200-meter dash. Vronique
Wilson finished in first place with a 53.46 in the 400-meter
dash. Ranada Daniels had a third place finish to qualify
in the 400-meter hurdles at 1:00.67.
In the women's field events, two Golden Panthers qualified.
Linda Loussaint recorded a high-jump mark of 1.70m (5
feet, 07 inches) and Michelle Lennox cleared 3.66m (12
feet, 00 inches) in the pole vault.
On the men's track side, Jamare Clarington qualified
by running a 14.10 in the 110-meter hurdles.
The FIU women's 4x100 meter-relay team won the event and qualified
with a 45.38 and the 4x400 meter relay ran a 3:41.88. The 4x100
team consists of Wilson, Edwards, Veneisha Williams and
Alexia Dean.
The 4x400 team is Ewards, Wilson, Sonnii McBride and
Dean.
The teams will now travel to the Florida Relays in Gainesville,
FL on March 27-29. |
