As a Junior (2000): Played in, and started, eight matches, including the first three of the season performed in 664:52, giving up eight goals on 61 shots with a 1.08 goals against average recorded a pair of five-save matches in a 1-0 loss vs. No. 6-ranked Indiana (9/17) and a 1-1 overtime tie against nationally-recognized San Diego (10/1) recorded his lone shutout of the year in the season-opening 3-0 win over Dayton (9/1). As a Sophomore (1999): A very pleasant surprise who stepped up big after an injury to starter Wally Crittenden at midseason recorded three straight shutouts, the first of which came against nationally-ranked Ohio State (10/31) lost a 1-0 overtime battle to No. 1-ranked Indiana (10/29) voted Defensive MVP of the BellSouth Classic and was Division I Independent Rookie of the Week (11/1) ended with 19 saves and allowed only four goals on the season. Prior to FIU: Played as the back-up goalkeeper as a freshman at Barry University in 1998, allowing no goals and one save in two games played competed three seasons in high school, starting as a senior won back-to-back state titles with the Strike Force Club team in 1995 and '96 earned MVP honors in the AAU state finals in 1996 and led the Strike Force to a national runner-up finish son of Fausto and Vilma Rubio Engineering major.
