njuries have short circuited an otherwise promising career…began to show flashes last season before being slowed once again by a second ACL injury…great knowledge of the game and a fierce competitor.

As a Junior (2000): Played in 11 matches and was a starter over the first three contests of the season as well as against nationally-ranked Oneonta State (9/24).

As a Sophomore (1999): Started all 18 games…took two shots and assisted on two goals, both of which came during a 4-0 victory over Howard (11/5)…those two assists represented a team season high for a Golden Panther player that year.

Prior to FIU: Sat out two years due to an ACL injury and resulting surgery…played four year of high school soccer…team captain as a senior and Defensive MVP in 1996-97…competed in the AAU Junior Olympics where he was named All-America…Defensive MVP and Most Valuable Player at the 1997 Junior Orange Bowl…played with the state champion Miami Strike Force club team (1994-97)…three-year high school Honor Roll student…1998-99 Sun Belt Conference Academic Honor Roll honoree…son of Ruben and Ines Canchon…Accounting major.
