lorida
International men's soccer players Matias Asorey and Sean Collins
have been honored as the Atlantic Soccer Conference Player and
Rookie of the Week, respectively, as announced by the conference
office today.
Asorey (Miami/Sunset HS) recorded the second hat trick of his
career in the Golden Panthers' 5-0 victory over Oneonta State
on Friday. The senior striker netted three goals in a seven-minute
span as FIU cruised to its sixth-straight win. Asorey has scored
nine goals thus far this season - besting his eight-goal output
a year ago - and leads the conference with 0.90 goals per game.
Collins (College Station, Texas/A&M Consolidated) came
off the bench against Oneonta State to score the first goal of
his collegiate career. The freshman midfielder has seen action
in nine of the Golden Panthers' 10 games this year, starting
two contests.
It was the second such honor for Asorey this year and the
first for Collins.
The Golden Panthers (6-4-0, 1-0-0 ASC) continue ASC play when
they travel to Pennsylvania to face Philadelphia (3-6-1, 0-2-0
ASC) on Friday at 4:00 p.m. |
