Men's Soccer dominates in
4-1 drubbing of FAU
enior
striker Matias Asorey scored twice, and the Golden Panthers used
a three-goal first half to move past Florida Atlantic Saturday
night in Boca Raton, Fla. It was FIU's first win of the season
as the squad improved to 1-4-0 on the year while FAU fell to
1-3-1.
The Golden Panthers struck early as Asorey netted a shot off
a Billy Boswell pass in the 10th minute. FIU scored again in
the 24th minute when sophomore Bobby Boswell took advantage of
commotion in the Owls' penalty area and pushed the ball past
FAU goalkeeper Anders Granstad. Sophomore Allen Handy finished
off the first half scoring at 30:34 on a pass from fellow sophomore
Oscar Gil.
In the second half, it was more FIU as Asorey notched his
second score of the night in the 71st minute.
FAU eluded a shutout at 73:32 when Kristoffer Aarskog scored
on a pass from Bjorn Totland. The Owls played 29 minutes of the
game with 10 players as Mike Rubin was ejected in the 61st minute
after receiving his second yellow card.
FIU used 23 players from its 25-man roster in the victory.
The Golden Panthers open a five-game homestand against Western
Kentucky next Friday at 7:30 p.m. at University Park on the FIU
campus. |
