FIU rolls over Binghamton,
5-1
IU
(9-6, 4-2) scored a pair of goals in the opening 5:44 of the
game en route to a 5-1 drubbing of Binghamton (1-14, 0-6) in
an Atlantic Soccer Conference match Friday at University Park.
Landy
Mattison scored his first collegiate goal at 2:24 on
a close-range header then Rafael
Reyes made it 2-0 with a goal from five yards out.
Binghamton's George Loebrich made it 2-1 just before
the half on an unassisted goal, but three second-half scores
by FIU's Ricky Wahl, Matias
Asorey and Alejandro
Sanchez put the game away for the Golden Panthers.
Asorey also added an assist to raise his team-leading offensive
totals to five goals and three assists on the year. And the five
goals scored in one match were the most since last year's 5-1
win over Oneonta State.
"I'm happy with the win, glad that we got our shots,
scored some goals and controlled the action," said FIU head
coach Karl
Kremser who saw his Golden Panthers dominate offensively,
out shooting the Bearcats, 27-7 overall.
FIU returns to action next Friday, Nov. 9, hosting the UCF
Golden Knights in a 7:30 p.m. contest. |
