Asorey leades FIU to 3-1 ASC
victory over Adelphi

two goals helped FIU even its season record to 5-5-0 and improve
in the Atlantic Soccer Conference to 2-1, with a 3-1 road victory
over Adelphi University in Garden City, N.Y.
The loss snapped a three-game Adelphi win streak, dropping
the Panthers to 3-6-1, 2-2 in league play.
Asorey put the Golden Panthers up 1-0 when he scored at 11:30
on a shot that ricocheted off the Adelphi crossbar and in for
the goal. Less than three minutes later, he became the first
FIU player this season with a multiple-goal match when he scored
unassisted from 10 yards away.
After Adelphis Mariusz Kulesza cut the lead in
half with a goal to the left corner of the net at 38:57 that
beat FIU goalkeeper Roy
Rosenberg, the Golden Panthers Russell Vreeland sealed
the victory with his first goal of the season with 2:30 minutes
remaining before intermission.
Rosenberg, who earned his fifth victory of the season in goal,
tallied nine saves as Adelphi out shot FIU 16-11 on the day.
Saturday was the last road match of the season for the Golden
Panthers who play their final seven at home. Next Friday, Oct.
19, the team returns to the University Park soccer field and
hosts league foe Philadelphia University in a 7:30 p.m. contest. |
