Pulido's first collegiate goal lifts FIU over Hartwick, 1-0

ophomore midfielder John Pulido (Miami, Fla./American HS) scored about 10 minutes into the second half and that goal stood up as Florida International took a 1-0 Atlantic Soccer Conference victory over Hartwick College on Sunday in Oneonta, N.Y.

With the win, FIU raised its record to 4-5 overall and 1-1 in the league. The Hawks fall to 5-6 and 0-3 in the conference play.

After a scoreless first half, Matias Asorey (Sunset/Miami, FL) set up Pulido with the only score. Asorey crossed the ball from the right side over a Hartwick defender to Pulido, who was about eight yards off the left post. He got control of the ball with his chest and pushed it into the lower right corner of the net for his first collegiate goal scored.

FIU goalkeeper Roy Rosenberg made five saves for the shutout, his fourth of the season.

The Golden Panthers are back on the road next weekend for another ASC match on Long Island, N.Y. against Adelphi.
