Roy Rosenberg named Atlantic Soccer Conference Rookie of the Week

ophomore goalkeeper Roy Rosenberg was named as the Atlantic Soccer Conference’s Rookie of the Week after earning Defensive MVP honors at last weekend’s Umbro Classic.

Rosenberg made eight saves in posting a 1-0 shutout win over Santa Clara last Friday night, before coming back to register two saves as the Golden Panthers beat FAU, 2-0, on Sunday.

Rosenberg, who ranks second in the league with a 0.75 goals against average on the season, transferred to FIU this season after the Tel-Aviv, Israel native played as a freshman at Northeastern State (Okla.) University. He’s been the starting goalkeeper for all three Golden Panther wins on the season.

FIU (3-4-0) begins its conference schedule this weekend on the road in New York, Friday at Oneonta State and Sunday at Hartwick.
