one start came against North Texas in the Sun Belt Conference Championships…went 3-for-5 from the floor…scored a season-high nine points twice vs. Auburn (11/30) and Louisiana-Lafayette (2/9)…grabbed six rebounds and added six points against Oral Roberts (12/22) in 22 minutes at the San Juan Shootout…saw the most action at Arkansas-Little Rock (2/23) with 25 minutes…recorded five rebounds the game before at Arkansas State (2/21)…had a season-high three steals at league champion Western Kentucky (1/2) in 14 minutes…hit his two three-point baskets against Vermont (12/27) and Arkansas State (2/21).

As a Sophomore (2000-01): Another walk-on last season who made important contributions.…a good athlete and an extremely high work rate…helps provide depth in the front court…has worked hard at losing weight and gaining agility in order to become more of a basketball player after transferring from the University of Miami where he played football.

As a Sophomore (2000-01): Became eligible on December 16 and played two minutes in his debut against Washington…saw action in 21 games from that point on and started 15 times…averaged nearly 24 minutes per game in each of those starts…put up his season-high nine points vs. SBC champion Western Kentucky (1/27)…also had three steals in that game…best all-around game was an eight point, nine rebound effort at Middle Tennessee (1/11)…tallied eight points and six rebounds against Arkansas State (1/21) and six points and eight rebounds versus New Orleans (2/10)…ranked tied for third on the squad in total rebounds (60) and rebound average (2.9) and was second in offensive rebounds (25) and blocked shots…hit his only three-point basket, in fact took his only three-point shots (3), against Pennsylvania (1/7).

University of Miami (1998-99): Participated with the intercollegiate football team as a wide receiver but was redshirted and saw no game action.

Prep and Personal Data: Three-year basketball letterwinner at Dade Christian who also ran track for two years and played a season of football…averaged 25 points, 10 rebounds and three assists as a senior for head coach Ryan Berger…named All-Miami-Dade County in basketball for two seasons…also earned 1997-98 all-state honors in track running the 200-meter dash and was all-county in football…twice named his basketball team's Most Valuable Player…born July 7, 1980 in Miami, Fla….son of Carlos and Odalis Fernandez…Liberal Arts major.
