FIU signs juco power forward Witherspoon

eminole Community College forward Kitus Witherspoon has signed a National Letter of Intent to play basketball at Florida International.

Witherspoon averaged a double-double last season for Seminole CC with 15.2 points and 11.1 rebounds per game. The 6-7, 245-pound sophomore was named one of the Sporting News magazine's top-ten junior college sophomores.

During Whitherspoon's senior year of high school, he helped lead Boone (Orlando, FL) High School to the Florida state 6A final. He was named to the all-state honorable mention team that season, after averaging 10.1 points, 6.5 rebounds, four assists and one steal per game.

FIU will host its final exhibition game on Saturday at 7pm against the Florida All-Stars. The regular season begins on November 23-24 for the FIU Tip-Off Classic at Golden Panther Arena.
