Two Golden Panthers dismissed
from the team
Taurance Johnson and Al Harris won't play again this
season
IU
sophomore forward Taurance Johnson's fall suspension from
the men's basketball team has been extended through the spring
term.
"Taurance is eligible, but has academic obligations that
require his total attention and focus," said head coach
Donnie Marsh. "We regret that he will not be able
to participate this season. In addition, Taurance can fully rehab
an injured ankle that hampered him during pre-season conditioning
and his brief return to the team."
Johnson was named honorable mention All-Sun Belt Conference
last season and pre-season second-team all-conference this year.
He played in two games this season, averaging five points and
two rebounds.
Junior forward Al Harris has been dismissed from the
team for violation of team rules. In announcing the dismissal,
Marsh stated, "I wish Al well, but it is in the best interest
of the program to move forward without him at this time."
Harris was averaging 10.2 points per game and 5.5 rebounds
in 13 games. He sat out the past two seasons after transferring
from Seton Hall.
The Golden Panthers will play New Mexico State tonight at
7:00 p.m. at Golden Panther Arena in a Sun Belt Conference matchup. |
