2002: Lefthander who led the
team with 26 appearances… did not allow an earned run in 15
of those 26 appearances…third on the staff with 68 innings
of work…pitched primarily as a reliever early in the season…won
all six decisions with one save…got his first start against
Miami of Ohio (3/13), pitching 7.1 innings of eight-hit, two-run
ball in a 7-2 FIU win…picked up his third win of the year
against then No. 21 Ohio State…pitched sixinnings against
Arkansas-Little Rock (4/21), giving up only three hits and no runs
in the 10-0 win…only allowed one home run all season, against
Middle Tennessee (5/18), but still came away with the winning decision
in the 24-8 FIU victory…forced 93 ground-outs…opposing
batters only hit .164 (11-for-67) against him when he pitched with
two outs…earned only save of the season vs. UCF (2/2) pitching
two thirds of an inning, allowing no hits and no runs.
Prior to FIU: Attended
Miami-Dade CC where he was named second team all-conference with
an 8-1 record and was a member of Miami-Dade's state championship
team…attended Indian River CCC in 1999-2000…was third
team All-Miami-Dade at Miami Christian his senior year where he
played for head coach Raul Hernandez…named honorable mention
to the All-Miami-Dade team in 1997 and 1998.
