2002: Recovered
slowly from injury…only appeared in three games, all coming
after May 11…pitched 1.1 innings with five hits, two walks
and six runs (three earned) allowed…only decision of the season
was a loss at Florida Atlantic (5/15) when he was charged with four
runs (one earned) on a hit and two walks.
2001: Medically red-shirted
the 2001 season after Tommy John surgery.
2000: Appeared in
17 games, starting 10 of them…went seven innings allowing
three earned runs and eight hits in a 6-3 win over Eastern Michigan
(02/28)…pitched 4.2 innings of relief versus Western Kentucky
(05/18) allowing one earned run and seven hits while striking out
seven in the 4-2 win.
1999: As a freshman,
had two wins in three starts and a total of nine appearances…gave
up only three earned runs in 23.2 innings pitched.
Prior to FIU: Pitched
four years of high school baseball for head coach Charlie Cardinale…voted
Broward County Player of the Year and Pitcher of the Year in 1998…first-team
All-State and an honorable mention All-American after going 7-1
with 1.53 ERA as a senior…tossed two no-hitters and had 87
strikeouts in 67 innings as a high school senior…was taken
in the 33rd round by the Florida Marlins out of high school.
