2002: Emerged to became the ace
of the staff…11 straight wins was the longest winning streak
for any freshman in the 30-year history of Golden Panthers baseball…one
of only two undefeated starting pitchers in Division I in 2002…voted
Sun Belt Conference Freshman of the Year by the league’s coaches
and was a second-team all-league selection…named to the first
team All-South Central Region as selected by the Rawlings/American
Baseball Coaches Association…honored with inclusion on the
2002 Louisville Slugger Freshmen All-America team as chosen by Collegiate
Baseball newspaper…14 game appearances with 13 starts on the
season…earned his first collegiate victory with five innings
of work against St. Francis (2/17)…picked up his ninth win
of the season at Miami (5/2), pitching the first seven innings and
allowing five runs, all in the first three innings, on nine hits…only
pitcher on the staff with a complete game during the season, he
earned two, back-to-back, against league opponents Arkansas-Little
Rock (4/19) and South Alabama (4/26)…also led all FIU pitchers
with 94.1 innings of work and 92 strikeouts…exceptionally
tough against left-handed batters who hit just .205 (23-for-112)
against him…recorded his season-best 12 strikeouts in seven
innings of five-hit ball vs. Fairfield (3/4), one of three shut-outs
he pitched on the season…also started and went six innings
in a 22-0 win over Wagner (3/10), and worked the first eight innings
of a 1-0 victory over SBC foe New Orleans (5/10)… a well-supported
pitcher as his teammates averaged 11.4 runs per start last season.

the team MVP for Southridge his senior year for head coach Fred
Burnside after a 10-2 record with 95 strikeouts and an ERA of 1.25…also
named to the first-team All-Miami-Dade baseball team…named
the Athlete of the Year as a sophomore…as a junior went 5-0
with a 0.80 ERA…recruited by LSU, Miami, USC.
