2002: Regular second baseman
with 51 starts…hit .417 in three regular season contests vs.
Miami with three RBI…ranked fifth on the team with nine home
runs and fourth with 47 RBI…most productive day as a Golden
Panther came against his home-state New Mexico State (3/23) when
he went 5-for-8 with a double, two home runs and seven RBI…also
had a five RBI outing vs. Wagner (3/10)…recorded a 14-game
hit streak (3/18-4/13), over which time he hit .434 (23-for-53),
raising his batting average from .338 to .369…batted .667
(10-for-15) with a runner at third base and less than two outs and
was successful over 53 percent of the time in advancing base runners…his
20 two-out RBI ranked second on the team.
Prior to FIU: Last
played at Palomar College in San Diego where he hit .355…member
of the Connie Mack Baseball Albuquerque Rebels State champions in
1997 and the 1998 California Runner-ups at Cypress College…was
also recruited by Long Beach State, Miami, Tulane, and Tennessee…played
for the Staunton Braves in summer 2001…letterwinner all four
years at La Cueva High School for head coach Bill Gracey where in
1997 they were state runner-ups…senior year hit .486 and led
the state with 11 home runs.
Personal: Grandfather
Bobby Adams played from 1946-60 for several teams and was the infield
instructor for 21 years with the Chicago Cubs, uncle Dick Adams
played for the A’s 1946-47, father Robert Adams played from
1967-78 for the A’s Twins, and Cubs and grandfather Dick Duda
played in the Yankees organizations…son of Robert and Jenny
Adams…born October 18, 1979…Sports Management major.
