The ACS Student Affiliated Chapter of FIU's Chemistry Club is on the first page of the beacon. Because we have been a very involved throughout the year and updated club, the American Chemical Society has named the our FIU's Chemistry Club chapter with its highest award that only about 30 chapters out of 500 received – "an outstanding chapter." At the March National ACS meeting at Salt Lake City in Utah, we will be recognized for the award. Our Chapter has also been added to the National ACS website visit the websiteThe story will be cover in the beacon.

CLUB FAIR!
This Thursday,08-04-08, we will be attending a booth representing the ACSSA FIU's Chemistry club. Please come and join us. Please give us a hand and/or if you have any questions we will be happy to answer them.
There will be demonstrations, free ice cream, and more.
Time of the event is 10AM-4PM. We will be doing some demonstrations in the GC pit at 11:30AM

Habitat for Humanity
On September 6, 2008, we will be volunteering with Habitat for Humanity.
Here is a packect regarding the infomation on the event.

We are planning to carpool as the possible mode of transportation there, however, please email our secretary or CSO representative officers and let them know.

FIRST GENERAL MEETING!
This Friday,09-12-08, we will be hosting our first 2008 Fall general meeting.
The meeting will be 12pm-1pm in CP 320.
Join us to shake away any doubt regarding the Chemistry Club. You will be able to meet members in the club, faculty, and start building your networks in the scientific community.
We will be having a special guest from P&G. They will be offering great opportunities such as tips on resume writing and interview skills.
Don't forget!!!!!! FREE Food and Refreshments will be served!!

Thanksgiving food drive
11-17-08 through 11-21-08 We will be collecting can food, frozen turkeys, stuffing, and othe thenksgiving food items this week. Please help us with the collection. The donations will be going to a title one school, Tropical Elementary shcool.
What is means to be a title one school if the majority of the families in the school have minimum support form the government for the student s to attend school.
These families really need our help to have a happy and plentiful Thanksgiving with the whole package of Turkeys, beans, cranberries,mashed potatoes, and the works.
PLEASE HELP US.

Open to All FIU Graduate and Undergraduate Students
Department Faculty and Chemistry GSO officers will be in attendance.

The GSO/Club will provide turkey, soda & traditional sides for everyone.
