OPEN TO UNDERGRADUATE AND GRADUATE STUDENTS

GENERAL SCHOLARSHIP: $500 — Meet minimum scholarship eligibility requirements as listed here.

 

A&P SENATE SCHOLARSHIP: $750 — Meet minimum scholarship eligibility requirements as listed here.

 

ADOLFO HENRIQUES SCHOLARSHIP: $500 – Meet minimum scholarship eligibility requirements as listed here.

 

CORAL GABLES HOSPITAL SCHOLARSHIP ENDOWMENT: $500 — Must be an employee or the child of an employee of Coral Gables Hospital (and provide a letter from Human Resources to that effect).  In the absence of candidates who meet the prior requirement, then any student who meets the following criteria: 1) full-time or part-time student seeking a bachelors or masters degree at FIU, or who has been accepted for admission to a bachelors or masters degree program; 2) demonstrated financial need as determined by the federal financial aid form (FAFSA) from the Office of Financial Aid; and 3) US citizen or permanent resident.

 

HARRIET ROBINSON SCHOLARSHIP: $500 — Minimum 3.2 GPA, demonstrated financial need as determined by the federal financial aid form (FAFSA) from the Office of Financial Aid.

 

LUCILLE E. SNAITH MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP: $3,500 — Degree-seeking undergraduate or graduate students enrolled in or accepted for admission to FIU in any school or college, except the Honors College. Applicants must have demonstrated academic excellence in secondary school if they are entering freshmen; in their undergraduate academic course of study at FIU or elsewhere, if they are entering graduate students; or, if already enrolled at FIU, at the University, that is commensurate with scholarship-level students. Applicants must demonstrate unmet financial need, as determined by the federal financial aid form (FAFSA) from the Office of Financial Aid. Applicants must be US citizens and residents of Miami-Dade or Broward County, FL at the time of the application.

 

MANUEL & MERCEDES MOSTEIRO SCHOLARSHIP: $500 Demonstrated academic merit and/or financial need as determined by the federal financial aid form (FAFSA) from the Office of Financial Aid. 

 

MERCEDES GUERRA CARREÑO SCHOLARSHIP: $500 — Female at least 30 years of age, resuming college-level studies after a hiatus. Must have completed at least 60 credits at an accredited college or university. Is currently a degree-seeking Graduate or undergraduate student at FIU. Demonstrated financial need as determined by the federal financial aid form (FAFSA) from the Office of Financial Aid. United States citizenship or permanent resident. Enrolled for minimum of 9 credits during the semester receiving the scholarship. Submit additional essay (500-1,000 words) describing personal circumstances and career goals, and where recipient hopes to be 10 years hence.  Once awarded, scholarship may be renewed for a maximum of 3additional semesters provided recipient maintains a 3.3 GPA and is enrolled for a minimum of 9 credits.

RALPH SANCHEZ GRAND PRIX SCHOLARSHIP: $500 — Meet minimum scholarship eligibility requirements as listed here.

 

GRADUATE STUDENTS ONLY

CHARLES PERRY GRADUATE SCHOLARSHIP: $2,500 — Graduate student, enrolled full-time (min 9 credits), minimum GPA 3.5, and demonstrated financial need as determined by the federal financial aid form (FAFSA) from the Office of Financial Aid. 

 

 

UNDERGRADUATE STUDENTS ONLY

 

ARMANDO ALEJANDRE JR MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP: $3,500 — Recipient must be an undergraduate student, enrolled full-time in an approved degree-seeking program at FIU.  Recipient must be a graduating senior or student who graduated from Immaculata – LaSalle High School in Miami, Florida and who maintained a cumulative grade point average at LaSalle of at least 3.0 based on a 4.0 scale. This GPA requirement may be waived for applicant(s) who have completed at least 2 semesters at FIU or any other regionally-accredited college or university and have a cumulative grade point average at institutions previously attended of 2.75 or higher on a 4.0 scale.

 

BADIA SPICES SCHOLARSHIP: $2,000 — Recipients must be students, enrolled full-time in an approved degree program at FIU. They must have and maintain a minimum GPA of 2.5 or better (on a 4.0 = “A” scale) during each term they hold the Badia Spices Scholarship. Applicant must be a US citizen or permanent resident in addition to being a resident of Miami-Dade or Broward County . Financial need may also be taken into consideration in the selection of scholarship recipients. Priority may be given to applicants who demonstrate an interest in, or a commitment to, the spice industry. Active involvement in related professional associations or with companies involved in the spice industry could be accepted as indication of such interest.

 

BADIA SPICES – JOSE MARTI SCHOLARSHIP: $2,000 — Recipients must be undergraduate students, enrolled full-time in an approved degree-seeking program at FIU. They must have and maintain a minimum GPA of 2.5 or better (on a 4.0 = “A” scale) during each term they hold the Badia Spices – Jose Marti Scholarship.  Applicant must be a US citizen or permanent resident in addition to being a resident of Miami-Dade or Broward County .  Applicant must submit an additional one-page essay on one literary work or speech by the Cuban writer and orator, Jose Marti.

 

BANK OF AMERICA SCHOLARSHIP: $2,000 — Entering freshman, minimum 3.3 GPA in secondary school, first time in college, demonstrated financial need. Scholarship may be renewed up to three additional years provided recipient maintains normal progress toward degree, full-time enrollment, and a cumulative 3.0 GPA as well as a minimum 3.0 GPA per semester. Applicant must submit an additional personal statement or essay indicating strong history of community service.

 

C.A.M.P. 4 JUSTICE FOUNDATION HUMAN RIGHTS SCHOLARSHIP: $1,750 — Recipients must meet minimum scholarship eligibility requirements as listed here. In addition, applicants must: (1) demonstrate personal commitment and dedication to furthering the cause of human rights as evident from active involvement in human rights activities or organizations; (2) demonstrate financial need as determined by the federal financial aid form (FAFSA) from the Office of Financial Aid; and (3) be a US citizen or permanent resident.  The principal criteria for selection of scholarship recipients will be: (1) demonstrated commitment to furthering the cause of human rights; (2) outstanding academic performance and/or potential; and (3) progress toward acquisition of a bachelor’s degree.  Applicant must submit an additional personal statement or essay indicating his/her vision of the role of human rights in our society and his/her dedication to the furtherance of human rights.  

 

CASTOR ADVERTISING SCHOLARSHIP: $500  — Full-time Advertising major in School of Journalism and Mass Communication or Marketing major with a concentration in advertising in the College of Business Administration. Junior or Senior with a minimum 3.0 GPA. Applicants must demonstrate financial need, as determined by the federal financial aid form (FAFSA) from the Office of Financial Aid. Applicants must be US citizens or legal residents. Renewable as long as the student complies with the requirements and conditions as stated earlier. Must submit an additional FIVE PAGE essay, double-spaced on the subject “Advertising and the Hispanic Market.” Demonstrate an interested in Hispanic or Hispanic American culture and knowledge about advertising to these markets.

 

SCIORTINO FAMILY SCHOLARSHIP: $500 — to benefit dependent children of individuals who have been employees of Sysco South Florida for at least 5 years and are employed at a Sysco location in Florida.   Must provide a letter from Human Resources at Sysco to this effect. Student must enroll full time and must make normal and continued progress toward a degree while a scholarship recipient or have applied for admission to FIU as a full-time, degree-seeking undergraduate student. Student must be a US citizen or permanent resident who qualifies as a Florida resident for tuition purposes.  Student may receive the scholarship for a total of 8 semesters as long as they continue to meet the eligibility requirements, maintain a cumulative GPA of 2.0 or better, and have a GPA of 2.0 during each semester they receive the scholarship. However, automatic renewal is not guaranteed, the student must re-apply each year.

 

SEDANO’S FAMILY FIRST GENERATION SCHOLARSHIP: $1,000 Undergraduate students enrolled for at least 6 credits per term. A legal Florida resident who qualifies for Florida Resident Tuition. Neither parent earned a Bachelor’s degree. Demonstrated financial need determined by filing a FAFSA. Preference given to employees or immediate family (spouses, siblings, children or grandchildren) of Sedano’s Supermarkets or Sedano’s Pharmacies and Discount Stores. Recipients will be chosen on the basis of academic performance or potential and the extent of unmet financial need. Scholarships may be renewed provided funds are available and the recipients continue to maintain eligibility criteria and make satisfactory progress towards an undergraduate degree. Indicate that you meet each of these criteria in your personal statement.
