Dr. Hans Küng
Theologian & Philosopher

Hans Küng, one of the greatest theologians of our age, is a leading expert on world religions and their impact on society. As a scholar of philosophy, he has applied his analytical talents to reflect on other vital arenas, including politics, economics, and international relations. A prolific writer, he has written many major books that have been translated into different languages and is co-editor of several journals. Dr. Küng was theological consultant for the Second Vatican Council, and his vision of openness and reform was decisive in the Council’s affirmation of dialogue with other world religions. In more recent years, Dr. Küng has organized many other initiatives in these areas, which is now culminating in his promotion of a “global ethic.”

Dr. Küng’s speech will be followed by a panel discussion, featuring the following panelists:

  • Hans Küng, Theologian and Philosopher
  • Mark B. Rosenberg, Provost, Florida International University
  • Sister Jeanne O’Laughlin, President, Barry University
  • Rabbi Mitchell Chefitz, Temple Israel of Miami
  • Father Patrick O’Neill, Archdiocese of Miami
  • Joseph Iannone, Dean of Graduate Programs, St. Thomas University
  • Terry E. Rey, Assistant Professor of Religious Studies, Florida International University
  • Moderator: Nathan Katz, Professor and Chair of Religious Studies, Florida International University
