A Fellow of the American Physics Society, Professor Ernst is an authority on theoretical nuclear physics and has published more than 100 articles on this subject. He has held numerous important positions in his field including chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Southeast Universities Research Association and consultant to both Oak Ridge and Los Alamos National Laboratories. He is also Member of the International Advisory Committee for the World Laboratory Center for Pan-American Collaboration in Science and Technology and Administrative Executive Officer of the National Society of Hispanic Physicists.
