Professor Thomas Appelquist
Eugene Higgins Professor of Physics
Yale University

Dr. Appelquist is a fellow of the APS, AAAS, and recipient of the Sakurai Prize from the APS, and a Senior US Scientist awardee from the Alexander von Humboldt Foundation. He has served on many distinguished advisory committees including the National Science Foundation, the DOE and the APS. In 1989 to 1993 he was a member of the Scientific Policy Committee of the Superconducting Supercollider Laboratory. He has been a Professor of Physics at Yale University since 1975, and prior to that Dr. Appelquist was on the faculty at Harvard University. His research has focused on the theory of elementary particles, including the strong interactions and electroweak unification. Dr. Appelquist's recent interests have dealt with dynamical electroweak symmetry breaking and the origin of the quark and lepton masses.
