*  Confirm your major is declared, and your name and local address are accurately reflected in your university records.

Apply online through the academic link in Pantherhsoft.

*  You will also need to track the progress of the following, if relevant to you:

Undergraduate Students: Graduate-Level Students:
*If you think you may be eligible for more than 60 transfer credits, see your advisor as soon as possible.

*You must complete the foreign language requirement. All students are required to complete two semesters of sequential instruction in one foreign language. College of Arts and Sciences students review catalog for details of college level foreign language requirement.

*If you think you may be eligible for more than six transfer credits, see your advisor as soon as possible.

*Courses taken prior to being fully admitted require advisor approval and processing of an inclusion form (available at the Office of the Registrar).

For ALL students:

All changes to the students' academic record need to be completed prior to the awarding of the degree.  This includes, but is not exclusive of:  change of grades for incompletes or non-reported grades (even if course[s] is not needed as a graduation requirement), forgiveness policy/course repeat forms, or low grade point average.  Once a degree is awarded, the academic record is sealed.  Consequently, requirements for a second major and/or minor must be completed at the same time as the requirements for the primary degree.  Posting of degrees begins on the day grades are available, approximately one week after classes end, and lasts through the third week of the next semester.

Completing a graduation application, or attending commencement, does not imply a student has earned a diploma.  All students who do not earn their degrees will receive notification.  Instructions will be provided as new documentation may be required.  Students unable to meet the necessary requirements will need to re-apply for graduation as applications are valid for only one term.  Ensure your current address is on file so correspondence will get to you in a timely manner.

Diplomas will be mailed, or available for pick-up, up to 5 weeks after your degree is posted.  Diplomas will not be released to students who have a financial obligation or have not completed an Exit Interview (Financial Aid, Perkins/NSDL).  Please contact Cashier's, Financial Aid or the Bursar's Office to assess your particular financial situation.

The Commencement information will be available on the web at  http://commencement.fiu.edu/  If you are planning on attending, please return the confirmation form inside the Guide by the deadline date.
