How Do I Change My Grade?

A change of grade is initiated only by the course instructor. The Change of Grade form is submitted by the course instructor to the College or School's Dean's Office. When approved, the form is sent to the Registrar's Office where the change occurs. Change of Grade forms cannot be released to students.

What Is an Incomplete Grade?

An incomplete grade is a temporary symbol given at the discretion of the instructor for work not completed due to serious interruption not caused by the student's own negligence. To change an incomplete grade, a Change of Grade form is submitted by the course instructor to the College or School's Dean's Office. When approved, the form is sent to the Registrar's Office where it is processed.

How Long Do I Have to Change an Incomplete Grade?

An incomplete must be made up as quickly as possible but no later than two semesters. Otherwise, it will automatically default to the grade that you earned in the course. There is no extension of the two semester
deadline. Do not re-register again for the course to make up the incomplete.

If you have received an incomplete grade and have applied for graduation at the end of that term, you must complete the incomplete grade by the end of the fourth week of the following term. Failure to do so will result in the cancellation of your graduation application and you will need to reapply for graduation.

What Is The Forgiveness Policy?

The forgiveness policy is a way in which students may repeat a limited number of courses to improve your grade point average (GPA) by\ having only the grade received on the last repeat used in its calculation.  Under the University's forgiveness policy, you must file a Repeated Course form with the Registrar's Office. There is no time limit on the use of the forgiveness policy for grades. All courses taken with the grades earned will be recorded on the student's transcript. The Repeated Course form will not be processed if the first or repeated grade
received is 'DR', 'DP', 'WI', 'WP', 'AU', 'NR', or 'EM'. Repeated courses will be appropriately designated (T attempted; R last repeat).

Effective Fall 1996, undergraduate students may use the forgiveness policy a maximum of three times for the purpose of improving the GPA.

Graduate students may repeat no more than two courses under this rule with no course being repeated more than once.

Please refer to the University Catalogs for a full description of the policy.

How Many Times Can I Use the Forgiveness Policy?

Undergraduate students may use the forgiveness policy a maximum of three times and graduate student a maximum of two times.
