How and When Do I Pay for my Courses?

The last day to pay is printed on your class schedule and tuition bill. If you are on Financial Aid, and your tuition exceeds your Financial Aid award.  You must pay your portion by the Last day to Pay  in order to avoid having
your classes dropped and a late payment fee charged.

You may pay your fees at the Cashier's Office on either Campus. At the University Park Campus in PC 120; or at the Biscayne Bay Campus in ACI 140. for your convenience there are Night Deposit boxes located just outside of the Cashier's Offices on either campus. You may also mail your payments to:

What If I Am Using a Fee Waiver to Pay for My Classes?

Read your waiver carefully and understand the limitations of the waiver. If you have any questions stop by or call one of our offices and we will be glad to explain to you the conditions of your waiver. You must turn in the original copy of your waiver form with your payment. If no payment is due, you must turn in the original copy of the waiver form by the last day to pay fees. Waivers will not hold your classes if your portion is not paid  and a lave fee is accessed if your portion is not paid by last day to pay.

How Do I Validate My Schedule?

We have automated our validation process effective Spring Term 1998. This means that you will no longer have to visit the Bursar's Office and stand in line to validate your class schedule each term. Acceptance of your Financial Aid Package constitutes acceptance of the Auto Validation process. If you do not want your classes you must drop them prior to the published end of the Drop/Add period. If you fail to drop unwanted classes, you will be held fee liable for them.

You will be required to pay any difference between the total amount of your award and the total cost of your tuition and fees. You can calculate this by subtracting the current amount due from the total amount of your accepted Financial Aid awards, excluding Federal Work Study (FWS), for each term. You will be automatically validated if your calculation indicates that:

Your award amount exceeds the amount of the current fees due.  Your award amount is equal to the amount of the current fees due.

If your calculation indicates that your award amount does NOT meet or exceed your current fees due, you will be required to pay the difference before your class schedule will be automatically validated.

It is your responsibility to monitor your total award amount and your total fee amount. If you drop or add classes you will have to repeat the above calculation to see if additional liability has been incurred. Under no circumstances will you be automatically validated if your portion is not fully paid. The penalty for not paying your portion by the last day to pay fees each term is the same for all students: your registration will be cancelled for non-payment of fees, you will be required to appeal for reinstatement of your classes during the published reinstatement period, and you will be held liable for all late fees.

What If I forget to Pay Or Have My Schedule Validated?

All of your courses will be cancelled. You will have to register again and pay the late fees.

What Can I Do If My Courses Are Canceled?

You must go through the reinstatement process and is approved, a $100.00 late fee will be accessed.

How Do I Get Reinstated?

You go to the Bursar's Office on either campus and fill out an Appeal for Reinstatement. If approved, be prepared to pay your balance due plus $100.00 reinstatement fee. Your schedule will be reinstated exactly as it was when you were canceled. This must be done before the last day to reinstate deadline.

How Do I Know What The Deadlines Are?

The deadline dates for fees appear in a number of university publications on our website (http://www.fiu.edu/~cashiers).
