“Hispanic Literature and Film at the Bicentennial

of Latin American Independences (1810-2010)”

 

Seventh Biennial Florida International University

 

Conference on Spanish and Spanish-American Cultural Studies

 

April 1-3, 2010

 

On the occasion of the bicentennial of the Latin American independences, the FIU Annual Symposium on Hispanic cultural studies will examine and evaluate the state of literature and film on both sides of the Atlantic. Although preference will be given to those papers addressing the issue of independence and its ramifications, other transatlantic topics are also welcomed. The deadline for submission is December 1st. Suggested topic headings or panel requests include but are not limited to:

Papers may be written in Spanish or English. Length should not exceed 10 double-spaced pages (reading time: 20 minutes). Registration fee is $160. If you are interested in presenting a paper or in organizing a session, please E-mail a one-page abstract (250 words) accompanied by a title page with the author’s name, address and phone no later than December 1st to:
