Appeal Process
Appeal Process
Students who do not meet the Standards of Satisfactory Academic Progress may appeal the suspension
of financial aid eligibility as follows:
- Complete and submit the
Satisfactory Academic Progress Appeal Form.
- Submit a letter with supporting documentation explaining the basis for the appeal, including the
extenuating circumstances for the appropriate semester(s).
On appeal the University may find that a student is making satisfactory academic progress, even though
the students does not satisfy the qualitative or quantitative requirements set forth above, if the University
determines that the student’s failure to meet those requirements is based upon the death of a relative, an
injury or illness of the student, or other special circumstances. Examples of invalid reasons for an appeal
are [change of major], double major, taking courses for a minor, personal conflict not explained and
documented, and/or the need for financial assistance. Students will be notified of the decision within
30 days after receipt of their appeal.
Re-establishing Eligibility:
Students may re-establish their eligibility for financial aid consideration through the appeal process or
by enhancing their academic standing in subsequent semesters to satisfy the
qualitative and
quantitative of the Satisfactory Academic Progress policy.
Notice: Students may enroll in courses during the summer session to make up credit hour deficiencies
to restore eligibility on the completion ratio requirement. The academic standing of a student found
ineligible for financial aid at the end of the Spring semester will be re-evaluated at the end of the Summer
term(s) that the student completes.
