Return of Aid Policy
Deferments/Anticipated Aid
What is a Deferment? Students that have been awarded Financial Aid are not required the
amount of tuition that financial aid will cover. You are obligated to pay the difference
(charges due) between your charges and the anticipated aid.
How do I determine my Anticipated Aid?
Click the
My Financial Aid link on the left menu. You will be redirected to the PantherSoft Sign-in page.
- Sign into PantherSoft using PantherID;
- Click on FINANCES;
- Under ACCOUNT click on ACCOUNT SUMMARY;
- Click on the appropriate term;
- Get your calculator out: Subtract the Charge Activity from the Anticipated Aid Activity to get
your Charges Due.
Tuition Deferment:
You will be granted a tuition deferment if the total amount of your financial aid award, excluding Federal
Work-Study (FWS) and alternative loans, meets or exceeds the cost of your tuition and fees. If your award
is less than your fees, you must pay the difference before the last day to pay to avoid cancellation of your
courses and to insure a tuition deferment for the balance due. You must officially drop unwanted classes
prior to the last day to pay to avoid liability. You will be "fee liable" for all courses on
your class schedule after the last day of the drop/add period of the semester.
Housing Deferment:
The Housing Office will grant you a deferment if the total amount of your award is sufficient to
cover tuition and housing costs. If your award is not sufficient or you have not been awarded aid by
the housing payment deadline, you must make payment arrangements with the Housing Office to guarantee your
dormitory space.
