2005-2006 STANDARD OF SATISFACTORY ACADEMIC PROGRESS

Basic Requirements:
- You must maintain satisfactory academic progress at the university.
- Progress isreviewed annually at the endof Spring semester.
- You must maintain a minimum GPA and complete a minimum number of credits each term you're enrolled.
- Assistance will be limited to a maximum number of credits in relation to your degree requirements.
*Financial Aid will pay for a total of 144 credits (including dropped,
failed, and passes classes)
All courses taken will be counted. Failure to meet the requirements of satisfactory progress will
result in the suspension or termination of financial aid eligibility.
There are two components to Satisfactory Academic Progress: Qualitative and Quantitative.
Qualitative (GPA)
You must maintain a minimum cumulative GPA consistent with the following guidelines:

NOTICE:
The Summer semester may be used to make up credit hour deficiencies for the new academic year.
Maximum Time Frame - You are eligible to receive financial aid up to 20% over the maximum
number of credit hours required to obtain their degree as defined in the University Catalog (144 credits).
NOTICE: If your financial aid is suspended for Time Frame criteria violation, you will be
given the opportunity to file a ONE-TIME appeal after reaching 120% of the maximum number
of credits required to obtain your degree.
EXCEPTIONS:
A) If you are pursuing a Ph.D., you must complete your course of study within 150 % of the credit requirements for your program.
B) If you were admitted with deficiencies or are missing prerequisites for your program of study, you may have those credits added to their minimum degree requirements. You must provide written confirmation from your academic advisor stating the number of credit deficiencies or missing prerequisites required at the time of acceptance.
Treatment of Punitive &Non-Punitive Grades and Courses
All courses with a failing grade (F), dropped course grade (DR), withdrawal (WI), incomplete (IN) and
repeated classes will be considered in the calculation of credits attempted and will be subject to the
Standards of Satisfactory Academic Progress outlined.
Appeal Process
If you do not meet the Standards of Satisfactory Academic Progress and are able to document extenuating
circumstances, you may appeal the suspension of financial aid eligibility.
To Appeal follow the following steps:
- Submit a letter with the proper documentation to the Financial Aid Office.
- You will be notified of the decision within 30 days of the receipt date of your appeal.
- Examples of invalid reasons for an appeal are change of major, double major, taking
courses for a minor, personal conflict not explained and documented, and the need for financial assistance, etc.
