Biomedical emergencies can involve pathogen exposures, biological/medical waste spills, or even receiving suspicious mail. Any type of spill that occurs outside the protection of a containment unit, like a biosafety cabinet, has the potential to release aerosols into the environment, further increasing the likelihood of an exposure. It is critical to know how to act quickly to ensure the safety of the university community and emergency responders. The section provides the resources, procedures, and training for reporting and handling biomedical emergencies at FIU
