| The major in economics provides
the student with an understanding of economic
problems and institutions, and with the analytical
tools to apply this knowledge to contemporary
problems. The program is designed for students
desiring a career in business, government,
international agencies or multinational
corporations; and for those planning graduate study
in economics, business, law, public administration,
urban studies or international relations. |

To declare a major
Economics, you must have completed 60 credits, have
at least a 2.0 GPA, and have passed or waived the
CLAST exam. If you meet these requirements, you may
declare a major in Economics by filling out a
declaration available in the Department of
Economics, DM-316. You do not have to have completed
the four-course requirement listed above. However,
until you have done so, your declaration will be
considered "tentative," and formal admission to the
program is contingent upon satisfactory completion
of these courses.
