Graduate Programs in Economics

The department offers opportunities for graduate study at both the Master's and Doctoral Level.

The objective of the Doctoral program is to offer advanced training in economic analysis. It provides excellent training for a career at academic institutions, in governmental and international agencies, and in the private sector.

The Master's program provides a degree of expertise that cannot be obtained in an undergraduate education, but in a form that can be completed in eighteen months of full-time study, or on a part-time basis. The additional expertise provided by the M.A. program enhances your prospects for a successful career in the private sector, and in governmental or international agencies.

Details of both the MA and Ph.D. programs can be found in the Handbook of Graduate Studies. A summary of the programs can also be found in the Graduate brochure.
The department also offers a combined BA/MA in economics. FIU undergraduates considering applying to graduate schools should seriously consider this program.
