Florida and Non-Florida Residents Tuition Fee and Financial Assistance Estimator
for Continuing and New Undergraduate or Continuing and New Graduate Students
Fall-2008 Term

Continuing Undergraduate Student Criteria:
  • You are a degree-seeking student admitted prior to Fall-2007 term and enrolled Spring-2008 and/or Summer-2008 terms.
  • Your continuing status ends upon receipt of a degree Fall-2008 term or thereafter.
  • Your continuing status also ends when you begin a degree program requiring a new application.
New Undergraduate Student Criteria:
  • You are a first time admitted degree-seeking student to Florida International University Fall-2007 term or thereafter.
  • You are a non-degree seeking student.
  • You are a FIU graduate admitted to a new degree program Fall-2007 term or thereafter.
  • You are a former student who is readmitted after an absence of two or more terms, excluding military withdraw.
Continuing Graduate Student Criteria:
  • You are a degree-seeking student admitted prior to Fall-2006 term and enrolled Spring-2007 and/or Summer-2007 terms.
  • Your continuing status ends upon receipt of a degree Spring-2007 term or thereafter.
  • Your continuing status also ends when you begin a degree program requiring a new application.
New Graduate Student Criteria:
  • You are a first time admitted degree-seeking student to Florida International University Fall-2006 term or thereafter.
  • You are a non-degree seeking student.
  • You are a FIU graduate admitted to a new degree program Fall-2006 term or thereafter.
  • You are a former student who is readmitted after an absence of two or more terms, excluding military withdraw.

  1. a.   Fees covered by the Florida Prepaid College Program.  If a student participates in the Florida Prepaid College Program, the program will cover the state portion of tuition which is the same for all 10 state Universities.   The student would be responsible for paying all other local fees by the fee payment deadline date.
    b.   Fees covered by the Florida Prepaid College Program - Local Fee Plan.  If a student participates in the Florida Prepaid College Program which includes the Local Fee Plan, the program will cover the state portion of tuition which is the same for all 10 state Universities.   The student would be responsible for paying all other local fees by the fee payment deadline date.

NOTE:   Under certain circumstances an Undergraduate student may be allowed to enroll in Graduate classes prior to being
               admitted into a program. Likewise a Graduate student may be required to enroll in Undergraduate classes to meet a
               deficiency, a new requirement, or to refresh a forgotten skill for a program. In either circumstance, this tool was not
               designed to accept these scenarios, however because they are plausible, FIU has provided this section for such
               instances. Please consult with your program advisor for permission and for any override that may be necessary. You
               must also confirm with the Admissions Office as to your enrollment status in order to calculate accurately how much
               you will be paying for the classes outside of your intended program.

  2. Some courses offered by the individual Colleges may require that you enroll in a lab, or the course may require that you purchase additional materials and supplies other than a text book, in order to complete the requirements. Because these costs may vary, please consider the classes you are taking and determine if there may be additional costs associated to them.
  3. Per the policy and procedures of the ;Registrar's Office, if a student registers after the regular registration deadline date, they will be assessed a late registration fee of $100.00.  Likewise, if a student does not pay their tuition by the fee payment deadline there is a $100.00 late payment fee assessed.
  4. Pursuant to  Section 1009.285, F.S., and University Registrar Policy, each student enrolled in the same undergraduate course more than twice shall be assessed an additional $175.84 per credit hour in addition to the fees outlined above for each such course.
  5. Certain Scholarships, Grants and loans will pay for less than full time attendance and others will not.  The Financial Aid Office may also require a minimal amount of  Credit Hours or a minimum  Grade Point Average, in order to pay.  Check with your awarding agency, contract or the Financial Aid Office to determine if you are still eligible to receive Financial Assistance if you are not attending the University on a full time basis.  Full Time Attendance is; Undergraduate = 12 Cr. Hr. per term or Graduate = 9 Cr. Hr. per term.
  6. Per term Health and Athletic Fees for this program is included in this award.
  7. A book allowance is included for this program, however this may not be the actual cost of books for your classes.  The estimated amounts are:
              Enrolled half time but less than 6 credits of Remaining Hours = $ 46.88
              6 -  8  credits = $ 93.75
              9 - 11 credits = $140.63
               12 +  credits = $187.50

CREDIT CARD PAYMENTS - Using this payment method, there is a non-refundable Credit Card Surcharge of 2% of the total amount paid .  To make a credit card payment, just access the Student Administration System with your new Panther ID and Password, go to "Learning Services", click "Make a Payment", and click "Pay by Credit Card".  The system will walk you through the process and produce a confirmation number.  Please print a copy of your payment and confirmation number for your records.

ELECTRONIC CHECK PAYMENTS - Payments by electronic check can also be completed on line from your home 24 - 7, with NO additional fees.   To make a check payment, just access the Student Administration System with your new Panther ID and Password, go to "Learning Services", click "Make a Payment", and click "Pay by Electronic Check".  The system will walk you through the process.  Please print a copy of your payment for your records.
